The Benefits of Exercise
Exercise is vital for all of us. From better sleep and mood to stronger bones and sharper thinking, the many ways movement helps the body.
Exercise is vital for all of us. Exercising regularly helps the body in so many ways, and the benefits reach far beyond the number on a scale.
Movement improves sleep and mood through the release of endorphins, and it helps strengthen the immune system with antioxidant molecules and anti-inflammatory cytokines. It builds bone density and stronger bones, and can even improve your complexion.
Exercise lowers blood pressure and heart rate, tones muscle, and helps manage blood sugar and insulin levels. It also boosts energy and enhances mental clarity and judgment.
One of my favorite benefits: exercise improves cognitive function through its effects on the hippocampus in the brain. In other words, moving your body is one of the best things you can do for your mind.
So find something you enjoy and keep moving, your body and brain will thank you.
